Housing and Nutrition Grants for Sustainable Communities

Across the United States, organizations like the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition in South Dakota and Food Well Alliance in Atlanta are leveraging Nutrition and Food Grants to combat food insecurity and promote healthier communities. These grants empower nonprofits, schools, and community organizations to expand access to fresh, nutritious meals, support local food pantries, and foster long-term wellness. With millions of families facing hunger and limited access to healthy food, these initiatives are critical for building sustainable solutions that bridge the gap between need and nourishment.

In parallel, the Rural Housing Service’s Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) program provides vital funding to repair and rehabilitate homes for low- and very low-income residents in rural areas. Eligible entities, including public agencies, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations, can access grants to assist homeowners and rental property owners in making housing affordable and safe. For 2025, approximately $2.1 million is available for disaster assistance grants (up to $50,000 per award) to address 2022 presidentially declared disaster areas. Preapplications require a published statement of activities with a 15-day public comment period, due no later than 16 days before the application deadline. Unfortunately, the 2025 HPG application deadline is September 4, 2025, so organizations must plan for 2026 if not already prepared.
