Get the Social Security Disability Help You Deserve

Navigating the Social Security Disability system is demanding, and the rules for SSDI and SSI benefits leave many applicants frustrated and overwhelmed. Our team provides comprehensive representation at every stage of the process from filing an initial application to preparing evidence, coordinating medical documentation, responding to SSA requests, and advocating for you in hearings and appeals.

We understand how to build cases that meet Social Security’s strict standards and have helped clients secure the monthly benefits they need to support themselves and their families. Whether you are unable to work due to a physical impairment, mental health condition, or a combination of limitations, we stand ready to guide you, protect your rights, and move your claim forward. Contact us today for clear direction and committed advocacy that positions you for the strongest possible outcome.

AM I ELIGIBLE ?

There are two types of benefits sought by claimants:

SSDI is available to people who have worked and paid Social Security taxes long enough before becoming disabled,  typically at least five out of the last ten years (exact credits depend on your age). However, more than 70% of initial SSDI claims are denied.

If you haven’t worked recently, worked only briefly, or never worked at all, you may still qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a separate SSA program. SSI is based on financial need, not work history. You can qualify if you have very limited income (generally under $967 per month in 2025 countable income), limited assets, and a severe medical condition that stops you from working.

A skilled and persistent legal representative is crucial to navigate this challenging process and avoid common mistakes when seeking benefits. Fortunately, if your claim is denied, you have the right to appeal, and most people eventually win at the hearing level with proper help.

The SSA also considers age in both programs:
  • Ages 18–49: You must prove you cannot do your past work or any other job that exists in significant numbers in the national economy.
  • Age 50 and older: The rules are more favorable, especially if your past work was physical. It becomes easier to prove you can’t switch to a new type of job.

The federal government understands that sudden or long-term illnesses and injuries can stop people from being able to keep working. Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is a federal insurance program managed by the Social Security Administration (SSA) that provides financial help to Americans who become medically unable to hold a job.

SSDI is not welfare or charity, it’s true insurance that workers pay into automatically through payroll taxes. A portion of every paycheck goes into the SSA’s Disability Trust Fund, which then pays monthly benefits to qualified individuals of any age who have a work history and now face a severe disability. Anyone whose medical condition keeps them from working and who satisfies the program’s work-credit and medical rules can apply for these benefits.

Since the application and appeals process is often complicated, lengthy, and difficult for people unfamiliar with government agencies, most applicants benefit greatly from experienced legal guidance, such as the support offered by JD Consults, LLC.

Condition Doesn’t Meet SSA Criteria

On appeal we'll interpret SSA guidelines, provide medical opinions, and build arguments to show your condition meets or equals SSA disability criteria.

Failure to Follow Treatment

Unless there is a valid reason, like cost, side effects, or conflicting advice, not following treatment helps build a strong case for SSA denials.

Insufficient Medical Evidence

We'll help you gather medical evidence, work with healthcare providers for detailed reports, and ensure all documentation meets SSA standards.
Earnings Evaluation

Assessing your earnings and ensuring your income is reported correctly helps when certain types of income or benefits should not have disqualified you.

Failure to Meet Work Requirements

Reviewing your work history, and SSI alternatives, will help determine whether you should continue with the application process.

Incomplete or Incorrect Application

We ensure your application is accurate, complete, and submitted on time, minimizing the risk of denial from administrative errors.
